Description :

Exceptional and highly collectible Frederick Hart acrylic resin sculpture titled Counterpoint, featuring Hart’s signature ethereal figurative forms suspended within a dramatic crystalline lucite structure.

This breathtaking sculpture displays multiple hauntingly beautiful human figures emerging from within the transparent geometric form — a hallmark of Frederick Hart’s revolutionary “sculpting with light” technique. The layered imagery creates incredible depth, movement, and shifting visual perspectives from every viewing angle.

The sculpture’s flowing female faces and embedded forms appear almost holographic as light passes through the cast acrylic resin, producing the luminous spiritual effect Hart became world-renowned for.

Artist:
Frederick Elliot Hart (American, 1943–1999)

Frederick Hart is widely regarded as one of the most important American figurative sculptors of the late 20th century. Best known for his work on the Washington National Cathedral and his iconic Ex Nihilo sculpture, Hart pioneered patented techniques embedding sculptural forms inside transparent acrylic resin.

His lucite sculptures are celebrated for combining classical realism with modern materials to create works that appear illuminated from within.

Artistic Significance:
Hart referred to his acrylic sculptures as “sculpting in light,” using transparent resin to create layered spiritual and emotional imagery unlike traditional stone or bronze sculpture. Counterpoint exemplifies Hart’s fascination with transcendence, duality, human connection, and motion captured within crystalline form.

The work’s shifting perspectives create entirely different visual experiences depending on lighting and angle, making it especially prized among collectors of museum-quality contemporary sculpture.

Collector Notes:
Frederick Hart sculptures remain increasingly sought after due to:

  • Limited production editions
  • Hart’s international reputation
  • Innovative patented acrylic techniques
  • Strong crossover appeal between fine art and modern design collectors

An outstanding opportunity to acquire an authentic signed Frederick Hart limited edition lucite sculpture with remarkable visual presence and investment-quality appeal.
