Historical Note / Fun Fact

Pressed glass became extremely popular in America during the late 19th and early 20th centuries because it allowed manufacturers to create elegant, crystal-like patterns at a fraction of the cost of cut glass. Covered candy dishes and decorative oil lamps were common household display pieces and remain popular with collectors today.
