Federal Glass introduced the Madrid pattern during the Depression Glass era of the 1930s, and it remains one of the most recognized and collected patterns today. Covered candy dishes like these were popular decorative accents throughout the mid-century period, while carnival glass earned its nickname because it was often awarded as prizes at fairs and carnivals in the early 1900s.
