Description :
Vintage copper and brass coal scuttle (also known as a fireplace hod or coal bucket) featuring a classic rounded body with flared pouring lip, solid brass pedestal base, brass swing handle, and turned wood grip handles. Constructed of polished copper with brass accents, this traditional fireside accessory was designed for carrying coal while adding decorative appeal beside the hearth. Today it serves equally well as a fireplace accent, planter, kindling holder, umbrella stand, or decorative vessel in English Country, Colonial, or Traditional interiors. Good vintage condition with age-related wear consistent with use. Copper and brass exhibit an attractive aged patina, surface scratches, oxidation, and areas of discoloration. Interior shows expected wear from prior use. Wood handle grips remain intact. No major structural damage noted. Please review all photographs for complete condition details. Coal scuttles became common household accessories during the Victorian and Edwardian periods, providing an elegant means of transporting coal from storage to the fireplace. Copper and brass examples remained popular well into the early 20th century and are now sought after as both functional fireplace accessories and decorative accent pieces. 75–150Measurements
