Historical Note

Capodimonte-style porcelain became highly collectible during the mid-20th century as Italian-inspired decorative arts gained popularity. Neoclassical urn-form lamps reflect the Hollywood Regency and Baroque Revival trends of the 1950s–1970s. Elton Bennett was a well-known American artist recognized for coastal and lighthouse prints produced during the mid-century period. Decorative convex floral plaques manufactured by The Herring Net in Hong Kong became popular imports during the 1960s and 1970s, while ornate porcelain candlesticks and trinket boxes completed the fashionable European-inspired home décor of the era.
