Description :

Vintage framed art print featuring Johannes Vermeer's celebrated painting The Little Street (View of Houses in Delft). This decorative reproduction depicts the quiet Dutch street scene originally painted around 1658 and remains one of Vermeer's most recognizable works. Professionally matted in a wood frame with gold-tone liner, the reverse is marked "#1466 – Murillo, Pie Eating Boys, 11" x 14", suggesting the backing was repurposed or replaced at some point and does not correspond to the artwork displayed. A charming piece for traditional, European, cottage, or gallery wall décor.

Measurements (Approx.)

  • Overall Frame: 14 in H × 11 in W × 1 in D
  • Visible Artwork: 9 in H × 6 in W

Condition

Good vintage condition. Frame shows light surface wear and age-appropriate patina. Glass is intact and artwork displays well. Backing board bears an unrelated printed label ("Pie Eating Boys"), indicating it has likely been reframed or rebacked. Ready to hang.

Historical Note

Johannes Vermeer (1632–1675) was one of the Dutch Golden Age's greatest painters. The Little Street is one of only a few surviving outdoor scenes by Vermeer and depicts everyday life in Delft with remarkable realism. Framed reproductions of Old Master paintings became especially popular during the mid-20th century as decorative art for homes and offices.
