Barley twist furniture traces its origins to 17th-century English design and experienced several revivals throughout the 20th century. Coffee tables featuring glass tops and cane shelves became especially popular during the 1970s and 1980s, blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary living room styling. Today they remain sought after for traditional, English Country, and eclectic interiors.
