Description :

Beautiful antique Victorian platform rocking chair crafted from walnut with ornate barley twist spindles, turned finials, and carved details throughout. This impressive chair features a spring platform rocking mechanism that provides a smooth, gentle rocking motion while remaining stationary on the floor. The chair has been tastefully reupholstered by the owners in an elegant cream patterned fabric that complements the rich walnut finish and enhances its timeless appeal. An exceptional statement piece for a Victorian, traditional, cottage, or cabin-style home.

Approx. Measurements:
Approximately 42–48" H x 24–30" W x 30–36" D

Condition:
Very good antique condition. Custom upholstery is clean and presents beautifully. Wood frame shows light age-appropriate wear consistent with normal use. Platform rocking mechanism appears intact and functional. Please review photos for complete condition details.

Historical Note:
Platform rocking chairs became popular in the late 19th century as an improvement over traditional rocking chairs. Their concealed spring mechanism allowed for a smoother, quieter rocking motion without the curved runners moving across the floor. Victorian examples with walnut construction and barley twist details remain highly collectible for their craftsmanship and comfort.

Est. Value:
300–700
