Description :

Striking two-piece décor lot pairing a Butler Specialty Company Chinese Chippendale-style mahogany étagère with a vintage Koch + Lowy brass adjustable reading lamp. The étagère features rich mahogany construction, open geometric fretwork sides, three display shelves, shaped apron details, and bracket-style feet. The accompanying Koch + Lowy lamp has a slim architectural brass column, weighted rectangular base, adjustable height mechanism, and distinctive cylindrical ribbed metal shade. Together they create an exceptionally handsome traditional-meets-Mid-Century display grouping. Butler and Koch + Lowy are both desirable names in the vintage furnishings market.

Approx. Measurements: Étagère 30–36" H x 22–28" W x 10–14" D. Lamp 45–55" H with approximately 12–16" reach. Lyre-form decorative object approximately 10–14" H.

Condition: Good vintage condition with expected age-related finish wear, scratches, scuffs, oxidation and patina. Étagère appears structurally sound. Koch + Lowy lamp shows vintage brass patina and surface wear; electrical components should be inspected prior to use. Decorative lyre-form piece shows aged gilt finish. Please review photos for exact condition.

Historical Note: Butler Specialty Company became known for traditional accent furniture drawing heavily from historic European and Asian-inspired forms; this étagère reflects the geometric fretwork associated with Chinese Chippendale design. Koch + Lowy was an important American lighting company particularly associated with sophisticated Mid-Century and postwar modern lighting. Its sleek adjustable brass task lamps are increasingly sought after by collectors and interior designers.
