Description :

Vintage Mid-Century Danish Iron & Cane String Figurative Candleholder Lot – Lulu Collection, 1960s

This sculptural mid-century Danish candleholder lot features a group of expressive iron figures wrapped in woven cane “string” detailing, characteristic of Scandinavian modern design from the 1960s. The figures are rendered in dynamic, playful poses, each incorporating candle cups into the composition, blurring the line between functional object and sculptural art.

The set includes multiple individual figurative candleholders and one multi-figure circular arrangement, all sharing the same blackened iron framework, organic wire forms, and warm cane wrapping. One piece retains its original “Lulu Collection” label, confirming period production and collectible design provenance. These pieces make a striking display when grouped together and are equally strong styled individually.

Dimensions
Approximate height range: 7"–12"
Bases range approximately 4"–7" diameter
Candle cups sized for standard taper candles
Measurements vary by piece

Condition
Good vintage condition overall with age-appropriate wear. Surface patina to iron consistent with age. Cane wrapping remains intact with minor wear in places. One cane wrap missing. Some candle cups show light wax residue. No structural breaks observed. Please note subtle variation and handmade character throughout.

Historical Note
Danish iron and cane figurative candleholders gained popularity in the mid-20th century as part of the Scandinavian modern movement, emphasizing hand-crafted forms, expressive silhouettes, and everyday objects elevated to sculptural art. Makers such as Laurids Lønborg and related workshops helped define this playful yet refined style, now highly collectible among mid-century design enthusiasts.
