Description :

Two distinctive vintage wood pieces. Includes a handcrafted folk-art keepsake/jewelry box decorated with intricate geometric wood inlay in contrasting natural tones. The box features a hinged lid, decorative dimensional trim, interior compartment and a small pull-out drawer lined in bright pink. Also included is a Mid-Century Modern/Danish-style six-bottle wooden wine rack with bold circular openings and warm wood grain.

The box is especially interesting—the geometric construction resembles parquetry/marquetry folk art, sometimes described in the resale market as straw-work, prison art or tramp-art style. Without provenance, I would keep the attribution broad rather than calling it a specific type of prison art.

Approx. Measurements
Keepsake box: approx. 9–11 in. wide × 7–9 in. deep × 6–8 in. tall
Wine rack: approx. 14–17 in. wide × 9–11 in. tall
Measurements should be confirmed.

Condition
Good vintage condition with age-related surface wear, scratches and small areas of finish wear. The box shows some wear around the lid, trim and drawer pull but retains its elaborate inlay. Wine rack shows normal vintage wood wear. Please review photos for details.

Historical Note
Geometric inlaid wooden boxes have a long folk-art tradition and were frequently made from contrasting woods or other thin natural materials to create elaborate star, diamond and linear patterns. The six-bottle rack reflects the streamlined geometric forms popular in Mid-Century Modern home entertaining accessories.
