Description :
HAY Sowden, Tannex Mikado & Atomic Chrome Teapot Set Details: Collection of three distinctive designer teapots spanning mid-century modern and contemporary design, including examples in stainless steel and ceramic. The group features a polished atomic-style chrome teapot with spherical body and tripod ball feet, a form strongly associated with mid-century modern barware and tea service design. Also included is a Tannex “Mikado” ceramic teapot in black with a contrasting red lid, known for its minimalist Japanese-inspired modern aesthetic. Completing the set is a HAY Sowden teapot in grey, designed by renowned British designer George Sowden, featuring a bold red lid and a modern sculptural profile with integrated brewing filter. Together these pieces showcase the evolution of modern teapot design from playful atomic-age forms of the 1950s–60s to contemporary European industrial design. Measurements (Approximate): Condition: Very good overall condition with light surface wear consistent with use. Chrome teapot shows minor polishing marks typical for stainless steel. Ceramic examples appear free of major chips or cracks. Historical Note: Atomic-style chrome teapots became popular during the mid-century modern era, reflecting the futuristic design language of the 1950s space age. The Tannex Mikado series introduced a clean minimalist interpretation of traditional tea service in the late 20th century. More recently, designer George Sowden, a founding member of the influential Memphis design movement, created the Sowden teapot for Danish design company HAY, blending playful color with modern functional design.
