Description :
Decorative set of two vintage blue-and-white porcelain vases in complementary Asian-inspired designs. The larger baluster vase features cobalt floral and foliate decoration, flared neck, and applied ornamental handles. The smaller vase has dense hand-painted-style floral decoration surrounding a central heart-shaped medallion and rests on a carved wooden display stand. An attractive mismatched pair with strong traditional chinoiserie appeal. Approx. Measurements: Larger vase approx. 16–20" H x 7–9" W. Smaller vase approx. 11–14" H x 6–8" W including stand. Condition: Good vintage condition with expected surface and manufacturing variations. Some discoloration, residue and age-related wear are visible, particularly around the larger vase's unglazed foot. No obvious major cracks or large losses visible in the photographs. Wooden stand shows normal wear. Historical Note: Blue-and-white porcelain originated in China and became one of the most influential decorative traditions in ceramics. These appear to be later decorative examples drawing from traditional Chinese export porcelain and chinoiserie motifs rather than early-period Chinese antiques. The applied handles and floral decoration of the larger vase reference traditional Chinese baluster and temple-vase forms. Est. Value: 125-250
