Description :

Vintage Japanese Dragonware porcelain tea service decorated with raised moriage dragons, pearlescent lavender-blue shading, hand-painted accents and gold trim. The set includes a tall lidded teapot, creamer, sugar bowl, multiple cups and matching saucers. Pieces are stamped “Made in Japan.” The dimensional dragon decoration and lustrous coloring give the service the distinctive appearance associated with Japanese Dragonware.

Approx. Measurements: Teapot approx. 8–10" H x 7–9" W; cups approx. 2–3" H; saucers approx. 4–5" diameter; sugar and creamer approx. 3–5" H.

Condition: Good vintage condition with expected age-related wear, including possible light loss to gold and painted decoration, minor surface marks and manufacturing irregularities. No obvious major cracks or large chips visible in the photographs. Please review photos carefully for individual-piece condition.

Historical Note: Japanese Dragonware became a popular export ceramic during the early to mid-20th century. Its signature technique, known as moriage, uses raised slip decoration to create dimensional dragons and other motifs, often combined with hand painting, lustrous glazes and gold detailing. “Made in Japan” markings are commonly found on pieces produced for the Western export market.

Est. Value: 125-225
