Description :

Charming antique/vintage solid wood drop-leaf gateleg dining table with coordinating decorative spindle-back chair. The table features two hinged drop leaves supported by a substantial swing-out gateleg base, allowing it to convert from a narrow console-sized piece to a generously sized dining table. Beautiful turned and reeded legs, molded apron, warm aged wood finish, and traditional construction give it wonderful character. Chair features a carved/pierced splat, turned legs and stretchers, and shaped wood seat. Maker unknown.

Approx. Measurements
Table approx. 40–50" long x 30–36" high; width approx. 15–20" with leaves down and 40–50" with both leaves raised. Chair approx. 35–40" high x 17–20" wide.

Condition
Good vintage/antique condition with visible age-related wear, scratches, finish variation, small marks and patina throughout. Table opens and displays with both drop leaves supported by the gateleg structure. Chair shows expected wear consistent with age. Please review all photos for condition and construction details.

Historical Note
Gateleg tables became popular because their hinged leaves and pivoting leg supports allowed a full-size dining surface to fold into an exceptionally compact footprint. This example has traditional turned-leg construction and styling associated with early American/Colonial Revival furniture.
