Description :
Beautiful vintage woven rattan/wicker storage trunk with warm aged patina, decorative brass-tone corner protectors, substantial brass-tone hinges and an ornate front latch. The tightly woven body is reinforced with wrapped edging and raised on small wood feet. Hinged lid opens to a spacious woven interior and is supported by side chains. A wonderful decorative storage piece with an old-world campaign/travel-trunk look. The comparable you found is described as 1960s Chinese rattan furniture; without a maker’s mark, I would keep this listing more general rather than definitively calling it Chinese. Approx. Measurements Condition Historical Note Estimated Value
Approx. 18–24" high x 18–24" wide x 15–20" deep.
Good vintage condition with age-related wear throughout. Visible oxidation/tarnish and spotting to metal hardware, finish wear, discoloration and areas of broken/loose wicker, particularly along the back/hinge area. Interior shows expected age and use. Lid, hinges, chains and latch are present. Please review photos closely for condition.
Woven rattan and wicker trunks were popular decorative storage pieces during the mid-20th century and were often influenced by traditional Asian and campaign-style luggage designs. Brass hardware paired with natural woven materials gives this example a particularly attractive vintage appearance.
