Description :

Wonderful collection of three vintage ceramic/stoneware mixing bowls, including one larger striped McCoy-style American mixing bowl and two smaller 1960s East German (GDR/DDR) bowls.

The largest bowl features a creamy ivory glaze, pronounced horizontal ribbing, and attractive pink and blue bands. The two smaller bowls have a classic utilitarian form with cream glaze and bold cobalt-blue banding. Their impressed base marks correspond with East German/GDR pottery, produced during the Cold War era when functional ceramics were manufactured by state-run factories. Similar examples are associated with makers such as VEB Steingutwerk Torgau and Colditz porcelain/ceramic works.

Approx. Measurements
Large bowl approx. 9–11 in. diameter; smaller bowls approx. 5–7 in. diameter

Condition
Vintage pre-owned condition with expected glaze crazing, surface scratches, discoloration, utensil marks, firing irregularities, and general wear consistent with age and kitchen use. Please review all photos carefully for exact condition.

Historical Note
The two smaller bowls are particularly interesting examples of 1960s East German (German Democratic Republic/GDR or DDR) utilitarian ceramics. During this period, everyday household pottery was produced by large state-owned manufacturers, emphasizing durability, simplicity, and functional design. Their restrained cream-and-blue decoration is characteristic of mid-century European kitchenware. The larger striped bowl reflects the similarly practical but more colorful style popular in American kitchens during the mid-20th century.

Est. Value
60–120
