Description :

Vintage Books, Nat Geo Magazines, Stamp Album Lot

Vintage mixed paper ephemera and collectible lot including books, magazines, a stamp album with stamps, a Norwegian-English pocket dictionary, and a decorative tin featuring a Hummel-style illustration. This eclectic collection spans multiple decades and includes items of interest to collectors of vintage magazines, philately, early reference books, and nostalgic printed ephemera.

Included in the lot are two vintage issues of The National Geographic Magazine (December 1938 and January 1957), known for their historic photography, travel articles, and period advertising. The lot also includes “My First Stamp Album”, containing a number of mounted stamps from various countries including European issues.

Also included is an 1897 Leachman’s Norsk-Engelsk Lomme-Ordbog (Norwegian-English pocket dictionary). The book contains an early handwritten ownership inscription referencing Clara Hjelmseth, Oting, North Dakota, dated 1916, adding a small piece of personal history to the volume.

Additional items include the vintage children’s book “Prayers and Graces for a Small Child” by Mary Alice Jones, a Rand McNally Giant Book edition, and a decorative round tin featuring artwork in the style of M.I. Hummel, commonly associated with collectible tins and gift packaging.

Vintage ephemera lots like this are often sought after for their illustrations, advertising, historical content, and collectible paper goods, and they display well for collectors of Americana and vintage print material.

Estimated combined value for similar mixed collectible paper lots typically ranges approximately $40–$120.

Features:

  • Two National Geographic magazines (Dec 1938, Jan 1957)

  • Vintage “My First Stamp Album” with stamps included

  • Leachman’s Norsk-Engelsk Lomme-Ordbog pocket dictionary (Copyright 1897)

  • Handwritten owner inscription dated 1916

  • “Prayers and Graces for a Small Child” by Mary Alice Jones

  • Rand McNally Giant Book edition

  • Decorative Hummel-style illustrated tin container

  • Vintage ephemera and collectible paper lot

Measurements (Range):
Books and magazines approximately 7–12 in. tall
Tin approximately 7–8 in. diameter

Condition:
Pre-owned vintage condition with wear consistent with age. Books and magazines show edge wear, creasing, and handling marks. The stamp album contains stamps but appears incomplete. The dictionary shows age-related wear and discoloration with a visible handwritten ownership inscription. Tin shows light cosmetic wear. Please review photos carefully for condition details.

Historical Note:
Publications such as National Geographic Magazine were widely collected during the early and mid-20th century for their groundbreaking photography and educational articles. Early stamp albums and pocket dictionaries were common learning tools of the late 19th and early 20th centuries and often remain collectible today as examples of everyday historical printed material.
