Description :
Vintage Holmes & Edwards silverplate flatware in the Century pattern, including a substantial group of dinner knives plus assorted forks, tablespoons, teaspoons and serving/utility pieces. Pieces show the pattern’s distinctive geometric Art Deco-style handle design. Marks visible include “Super Plate Holmes & Edwards Inlaid” on flatware and “Holmes & Edwards Stainless Steel” on knife blades. An accompanying family note identifies the set as Holmes & Edwards and states it belonged to the owner’s mother in Everett, Washington. Approx. Measurements: Knives 8–10 in.; forks 6–8 in.; spoons 5–8 in. Condition: Fair to good vintage condition with substantial age-related tarnish, oxidation, surface scratching and normal utensil wear. Some pieces show heavier darkening than others. Appears suitable for polishing/restoration. Please review photos for exact assortment and condition. Historical Note: Holmes & Edwards was an American silverware maker known especially for its patented inlaid silverplate, which placed additional silver at high-wear areas. The Century pattern was introduced in 1923 and reflects the emerging geometric styling associated with the Art Deco era. The surviving family provenance note adds appealing history to this particular set. Est. Value: 100–175
