Description :
Vintage Oneida Community Plate silver-plated flatware set with assorted forks, spoons, knives, serving utensils, and smaller specialty pieces stored in a fitted red-lined wooden flatware chest. Pieces feature an elegant traditional engraved pattern with beaded borders and decorative floral details. Marked “Community Plate.” Community Plate was Oneida’s premium silverplate line and is silver plated over base metal rather than solid sterling silver. Set appears to contain approximately 30-40 assorted pieces; exact piece count should be verified before listing. Approx Measurements Range: Flatware approximately 5-9.5 in long; storage chest approximately 15-18 in wide x 10-13 in deep x 3-5 in high Condition: Good vintage condition with expected surface scratches, tarnish, oxidation, polishing marks, and general age-related wear. Some pieces show more discoloration than others. Wooden storage chest has visible scratches, finish wear, and age-related marks; red interior lining shows lint, dust, and wear. Set appears incomplete or mixed based on photos. Historical Note: Community Plate was introduced by Oneida Community in the late 19th century as a higher-quality line of silver-plated tableware. Its elaborate patterns became especially popular in American households during the early-to-mid 20th century. Unlike sterling silver, Community Plate has limited precious-metal scrap value, but complete and desirable patterns remain collectible as vintage tableware. Est Value: 60-120
