Description :
Rare vintage 1988 Sears children’s Kombi play kitchen combining a stove, oven, sink, storage cabinet and tall refrigerator/freezer into one wonderfully nostalgic unit. Features the distinctive red-and-white gingham backsplash with illustrated curtained window and clock, four-burner stovetop, control knobs, red double sink, faux wood-grain cabinetry and white appliances with red tops. Refrigerator door opens to reveal charming printed interior graphics depicting food, dishes and kitchen supplies, while the lower cabinets provide additional play storage. A particularly desirable survivor of late-1980s pretend-play furniture and an impressive display piece for collectors of vintage Sears toys, retro kitchens and 1980s childhood memorabilia. Comparable examples are specifically identified online as the 1988 Kids Sears Play Toy Kombi Kitchen Set, confirming the model and helping distinguish this scarce full-size play kitchen from modern reproductions. Approx Measurements Range: Approximately 42-48 in wide x 14-18 in deep x 35-42 in high Condition: Good vintage condition with age and play wear throughout. Visible scuffs, scratches, marks, finish loss and discoloration are present, particularly on the white refrigerator and appliance surfaces. Cabinet interiors show normal use and storage wear. Doors, shelving, knobs, sink, burners and major components appear substantially intact from the photographs. Back and side panels show additional age-related wear. Overall an unusually complete-looking example for a large children’s play kitchen approaching 40 years old. Please review all photos for exact condition and completeness. Historical Note: Sears marketed large-scale pretend household toys throughout the 20th century, and this Kombi kitchen represents the elaborate play-kitchen designs popular during the late 1980s. Unlike today’s compact plastic kitchens, sets of this era often mimicked a complete domestic workspace with separate refrigerator, oven, sink, cabinetry and realistic printed details. This example has been identified in comparable listings as a 1988 Sears Kombi play kitchen. Because these bulky toys were heavily played with and difficult to store for decades, complete surviving examples are relatively uncommon and have developed collector interest among buyers seeking authentic 1980s toys and childhood nostalgia. Est Value: 250-400
