Description :

Vintage Thinker Style Bronze Finish Sculpture on Wood Base with Studio Pottery Vessel

Vintage figurative sculpture inspired by Auguste Rodin’s iconic “The Thinker,” depicting a seated nude male figure in a contemplative pose. The sculpture features a dark bronze-tone finish with expressive, textured modeling and is mounted on a solid wood base, giving the piece a substantial and classic presentation.

Included with the sculpture is a small hand-thrown studio pottery vessel, finished in a dark brown glaze with subtle surface variation and an organic form. The pottery complements the sculpture visually and may be displayed together or separately. The vessel appears unsigned.

This sculpture is a decorative cast reproduction rather than an original bronze, likely produced mid-20th century for home or office display. Pieces of this type were popular as study sculptures and decorative objects, reflecting the lasting influence of Rodin’s work on modern figurative art.

Dimensions:
– Sculpture (including base): approx. 11" H x 6" W x 6" D
– Pottery vessel: approx. 3.5" H x 4" W

Condition: Overall good vintage condition. The sculpture shows light surface wear and patina variation consistent with age and casting. Wood base shows minor edge wear. The pottery vessel shows minor glaze variation and surface wear consistent with studio pottery production. No major cracks, breaks, or repairs observed. Please review photos carefully for details.

Notes: The Thinker was originally conceived by Auguste Rodin in the late 19th century and remains one of the most recognizable sculptures in art history. Decorative reproduction and homage pieces allowed collectors to enjoy the symbolism and form of the original throughout the 20th century. Studio pottery vessels such as the included example are appreciated for their handcrafted character and organic glaze effects.

Estimated Value: $175–$325 for the lot
