Description :
Vintage 1970s Western Electric Brown Touch-Tone Donut Phone, Sculptural Circular Telephone Sculptural vintage touch-tone telephone in a distinctive circular “donut” form, produced in the 1970s using Western Electric / Bell System components. The phone features a glossy brown molded plastic body with an integrated handset cradle and central 12-button touch-tone keypad. Its bold, futuristic silhouette reflects the era’s fascination with space-age and modernist design, making it both a functional telephone and a decorative statement piece. The handset connects via a matching brown coiled cord, and the phone retains its classic push-button configuration with alphabetized number keys. Donut-style telephones were produced in limited quantities compared to standard desk models and are now sought after for their sculptural form and retro appeal. This example appears to be a novelty design utilizing authentic Western Electric internal components rather than a standard mass-market housing. Dimensions: Approx. 8" H x 10" W x 4.5" D Condition: Good vintage condition. Surface shows light scuffs and scratches consistent with age and use. Buttons appear intact and evenly seated. Cord shows normal wear with no visible breaks. Untested; functionality cannot be guaranteed. Please review photos carefully for condition details. Notes: Circular “donut” telephones emerged during the 1970s as experimental and novelty designs, blending telecommunications technology with sculptural industrial design. Western Electric phones were widely known for their durability and quality, and novelty forms incorporating Bell System components are now collectible as both design objects and pop-culture artifacts. Estimated Value: $150–$300
