Description :
Vintage Marwal Chalkware Polynesian Head Sculpture This vintage chalkware Polynesian head was produced by Marwal Industries, a well-known American maker of decorative figurines and busts during the mid-20th century. Rendered with softly stylized facial features, smooth contours, and a serene expression, this piece reflects the popular Tiki and Hawaiian revival aesthetic that surged in the United States during the 1950s and 1960s. Finished in warm brown tones with painted facial details, the sculpture was originally intended as a decorative display object and is often associated with mid-century interiors, tiki lounges, bar decor, or collector displays. Marwal chalkware pieces were commonly sold in gift shops and department stores and are now increasingly collectible, particularly figural heads and Polynesian-inspired forms. This example presents as a classic display bust, well-proportioned and visually striking, with a timeless mid-century presence. Dimensions: Approx. 10" H x 5.5" W x 5" D Condition: Very good vintage condition with minor surface wear consistent with age. No chips or cracks observed. Paint remains intact with light age-appropriate patina. Please review photos for full condition details. Historical Notes: Marwal Industries was active from the 1940s through the 1960s and became widely known for chalkware figurines, religious pieces, celebrity busts, and decorative heads. Polynesian and Tiki-themed objects gained popularity alongside postwar travel culture and the rise of tiki bars across the U.S., making pieces like this emblematic of the era’s fascination with island-inspired design. Estimated Value: $60–$120
