Description :

Mid-Century Modern “Strato Chess” 3-Tier Acrylic Chess Set by Eureka

Iconic three-level acrylic chess set known as Strato Chess, produced by Eureka Puzzles & Games. This sculptural mid-century modern design features three translucent, checkered acrylic boards arranged vertically and connected by curved clear supports, creating a striking stacked presentation that allows simultaneous play across multiple planes.

The set includes classic black and ivory-tone chess pieces arranged across the tiered boards. The transparent construction and floating configuration reflect the experimental, space-age design sensibilities of the late mid-20th century, making this piece as much a display object as a functional game.

Type: Three-tier chess set
Brand: Eureka Puzzles & Games
Model: Strato Chess
Style: Mid-century modern / space-age
Material: Translucent acrylic boards with molded chess pieces
Estimated Era: 1960s–1970s

Condition:
The set is in good vintage condition with visible surface scratches to the translucent acrylic boards consistent with age and use. The set is missing four chess pieces, which can be easily replaced with similar standard pieces if desired. The original box is included and shows normal age-related wear. Please refer to photographs for condition details.

Approximate Measurements:
Overall assembled height approximately 12–14 inches
Each board approximately 7–8 inches square

Historical Note:
Strato Chess was introduced during a period when game designers embraced futuristic materials and multi-dimensional play concepts. Produced by Eureka Puzzles & Games, the design became well known for its architectural presentation and novelty appeal, blending strategy with sculptural form.

Value Context:
Comparable Strato Chess sets typically sell in the $50–90 range depending on completeness, condition, and presence of the original box. Sets with original packaging and structurally sound acrylic components remain desirable among mid-century design and game collectors.
